What is Ecosystem is made from eco means Environment and System The ecosystem is a geographical area. It is a complex relationship between living and nonliving.

What is Ecosystem and their Types

The ecosystem is the of living organisms, and their physical environment. An ecosystem is a structural and functional unit.

What is Ecosystem

An ecosystem is a geographical area where plants animals and other organisms, as well as weather, work together to form life.

The ecosystem consists of the biotic and abiotic components.

They are linked together through the nutrient cycle and energy flow.

Types of Ecosystem

There are  7 types of ecosystem

Terrestrial ecosystem:-

The terrestrial ecosystem is many because there are many sorts of places.

Forest ecosystem:-

There are different types of trees in the world including deciduous and coniferous forests.

Grassland Ecosystem:-

The grassland supports a wide variety of life and has a complex and evolved ecosystem.

Dessert Ecosystem:-

It is the opposite of the tundra ecosystem but still harsh as they live in a hot climate.

Tundra Ecosystem:-

Tundra usually has a simple ecosystem because of the limited amount of life that can be supported.

The Freshwater Ecosystem:-

The freshwater ecosystem is the smallest amount of three other ecosystems.

Marine Ecosystem:-

They include certain bird that hunts for fish and some insect close to the ocean surface

There are 3 types of marine ecosystem:-

  • Deep marine ecosystem
  • Warm marine ecosystem
  • Cold marine ecosystem
How marine ecosystem are affected

Water pollution is the biggest threat to the marine ecosystem.it could be by the careless rendering of waste material.

Rapid sea-level rise due to global warming

Oil spills result in the pollution and death of millions of marine species. Coral bleaching occurs when conditions such as temperature light, nutrition start to change and resulting in the whitening of coral.

What are possible ways to protect marine life?

Reduce the usage of plastic playthings that would prevent the death of thousands of marine life. Avoid trawling during fishing.

Importance of ecosystem

The ecosystem is made up of heat, water, soil and sunlight, and living organisms which include plants, animals, and decomposers.

Ecosystems are communities of organisms and nonliving matter that interact together. As ecosystems are interdependent, each part is important. A damaged or Imbalanced ecosystem can cause many problems.

How Ecosystem Works

The community of plants, animals, and microorganisms together with their habitat is called an ecosystem.

For example:- A pond ecosystem may consist of a pond habitat, in habitat aquatic plants, microorganisms in the mud at the bottom.

If one part of the ecosystem is affected, this may affect another living thing in the ecosystem.

Components of Ecosystem

There are 2 components of the ecosystem

Biotic components are the living thing that has a direct or indirect influence on other organisms in the environment. For example plant, animal, and microorganisms waste material.

Biotic components can be classified into 3 categories

Producer:- They include all autotrophs. They synthesize food for their own. Forex;- plant, green algae.

Consumer:- They include heterotrophs that directly or indirectly depend on the producer for food.

Consumer are divided into three types:-

Herbivores:- Herbivores are those animals who eat grass.

Carnivores:- Carnivores are those who eat the flesh of another animal.

Omnivores:- Omnivores are those who eat both plants and the flesh of another animal.

Parasite:- Parasites is an organism that lives on or in a host and gets its food from or at the expense of its host. The parasite can cause disease in humans.

They include saprophytes which act on the dead and decaying matter for their nutrition.

Examples of Decomposers:-

Mushroom:- A type of fungi that grows out of the ground.

Earthworm:- Type of shredders that eat and digest detritus.

Abiotic components include all non-living components. Abiotic components are none living chemical and physical parts of the environment that affect living organisms.

Function of Ecosystem

It regulates the essential ecological process and supports the life system

It is responsible for the cycling of nutrient between biotic and abiotic component

It maintains a balance between the various tropical level in an ecosystem

It cycles the mineral through the biosphere.

The abiotic component help in synthesizes of organic component that involves the exchange of energy.

What is Food Chain
What is Food Chain | What is Ecosystem

Food Chain in Ecosystem

The food chain is a series of organisms that eat one another. It shows the flow of energy from one organism to another.

A food chain that shows how organisms are linked to one another through food.

What is Food Chain in the Ecosystem?

A food chain describes how the transfer of energy and nutrient move through an ecosystem.

At a basic level, there are plants that produce energy then it moves up to higher-level organisms called herbivores. After that when carnivores eat herbivores then there is a transfer of energy.

Example of a Food Chain

From flower butterflies sucks nectar then butterfly is eaten by a small bird and small birds are eaten by a fox.

The monkey eats fruit then the monkey is eaten by an eagle.

Antelope eats grass then antelope is eaten by tiger is eaten by a vulture

Types of the Food Chain

The food chain is of two types

Grazing food chain

It starts from the green plant goes to grazing herbivores and on to carnivores.

The Grazing Food Chain is of 2 Types

Predator food chain

Organisms are from small to big.

Parasitic food chain

Organisms tend to decrease in size as one goes higher up the food chain.

Detritus food chain

It passes from dead organic matter to microorganisms and then denies feeding organism detritivores and their predators

Food Web in an ecosystem

Another name of the food web is a consumer-resource system.

The Foodweb is an important ecological concept.

A food web could be described as who eats whom.

The Function of the Food Web

Food web distinguish the levels of producer and consumer by identifying and defining the importance of animal relationship and food sources.

Difference between food chain and food web

The food chain is the linear pathway showing the flow of energy and the food web is a multitude of network

The food chain has no effect on the adaptivity and competitiveness of organisms and the food web has a role in improving adaptability and competitiveness.
